A Love for Bali.
A Purpose to Give Back.

I was born and raised in Bali. Today I’m a wife and a full-time mum of two, and alongside my family I run Nimademadeinbali, sharing handmade pieces from small artisan communities across the island.

My story with weaving began in 2017, during the Mount Agung eruption. While I was helping families who had been displaced, I met a group of local artisans, and one of them taught me to weave. I still love to weave myself, it slows my mind down, but most of our bags are made by the skilled weavers I work with.

In May 2019, while I was working as a bartender with an American cruise line, I started selling their bags. I simply loved these handmade pieces, and I wanted to help the artisans behind them reach more people.

What makes our bags different is the process. Some designs are my own, and every bag goes through a traditional, natural process: choosing the material, weaving by hand, and drying it under the Bali sun. For our brown tones we use coconut husk instead of chemical dyes.

One moment I’m proud of is when local TV invited me for an interview about our work. It was a little crazy!

When you carry one of our bags, I want you to feel happy because it looks beautiful, and to know you’re helping a small community support their families and giving a little love back to nature.

Because when we support local, we don’t just take something beautiful home.We help keep a story alive.
